If you're seeking delicious Italian food in the Amsterdam area of New York, we have found that La Cucina is reliably excellent. Their pizza is truly some of the best that we have ever tasted, and since we've tried the pizza all over New York City, that's saying a lot. Really fantastic sauces and perfectly prepared pastas, wonderful meats, and a great wine list too. The servers are all very friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance is intimate and romantic, and yet casual enough for lunches with friends.

Raindancer Restaurant gets one of our highest recommendations because they've got some of the highest quality seafood in Amsterdam. They've got stuffed Maine lobster that will just melt in your mouth, and a very fresh and crisp salad bar that goes well with any one of their delicious seafood dishes. The steaks are also really fantastic here, and we'd recommend the New York strip steak or the filet mignon. The Buffalo chicken salad is also really great, and the black and bleu salad is noteworthy as well. Very friendly servers, clean atmosphere, and nice decor!

China Wok Chinese Restaurant has been one of our favorite restaurants in the Amsterdam area for quite some time now. Everyone who dines here raves about them having the best Chinese food around, and we can't argue with that! They've got all your favorites here, all those classic Chinese dishes that we just can't do without, and some exciting new variations as well. We'd especially recommend the appetizers here, from the potstickers to the soups, everything is just too delicious. But what really makes this place such a standout gem is the service. Very friendly and plenty of attention to detail.

We love coming in for a hearty meal of stuffed shells or eggplant parmesan, and their soups and salads are the perfect complement to those. Very fresh and flavorful. Seeking amazing pizza in Amsterdam? Try Napoli Pizzeria. Before we even mention the food, we have to say that the staff is outright amazing. They are always so friendly and helpful, always so quick to get to your table or to bring you your food. They've got an amazing Buffalo chicken pizza that is really to die for. The thin crust will drive you wild, and the amount of sauce and cheese is just perfect. We love their salads and appetizers too, and their desserts are definitely noteworthy as well. Truly top notch food, moderately priced, and just wonderful atmosphere and ambiance.

The Crystal Bar gets rave reviews from everyone we know, and there's no question why. They've got some of the greatest Italian fare that you will ever set your tastebuds on. Really delicious traditional favorites like rigatoni with sausage, chicken parmesan, and grilled salmon. The portions are nice and large, and they have a great array of appetizers, entrees, and desserts for both the guilty pleasure seekers and the health conscious crowd. Something that we consider a major bonus is that they make their own sausage on the premises. Delish! The Crystal Bar comes very highly recommended for a million and one reasons.

It seems like all the cozy cafes that we have fallen in love with in Amsterdam have closed down just as quickly as they opened. Europa Cafe  has lasted quite a while already, and we hope that it lasts forever. The ambiance is just beautiful, very elegant and superbly decorated. The food is on that same level too, really nicely prepared and packed with flavor. The only complaint we have is with the service, which is a little bit hit or miss, but overall not bad and the food always arrives piping hot and fast, and at the end of the day that's what's most important. Great breakfasts. We just love this place!

Parillo's Armory Grill is one of those places that's tucked away, unassuming, easy to miss. But don't just walk on by. It's worth checking out, and then visiting again and again. It's so cozy here, it almost doesn't feel like a business. It feels like an old fashioned home with all the cozy amenities that you'd expect when visiting family. They've got a nice selection of wines, delicious soups and salads, and some amazing entrees including veal prosciutto and perfectly prepared steaks. Make sure to try their delicious garlic butter on the freshly baked bread, and don't miss the house salad with that scrumptious Italian dressing.

Shorty's Southside is another one of our favorite places for Italian food, even if they do close up too early for our tastes! The menu items that always get our attention here are the chicken parmigiana, the alfredo pasta, and the lasagna. We also love their chef salad. Truly delish. And big enough to share! We especially love the hearty amounts of meat and cheese, and the artichoke hearts are a really nice touch as well. Nice large portions here for those hearty appetites, and a really wide array of flavors for everybody. It's a little bit small here, so you'll want to arrive early if you want a good seat, especially on the weekends.

Cappie's Drive In is one of those old fashioned places that you just fall in love with, and there aren't enough of them left in the Amsterdam area. They've got the best banana milkshakes ever, and we really love their macaroni salad, the hot dogs, and of course finishing it all off with that famous cookie crumb ice cream is always a great idea! They're so consistent here, always the same great food every time. It's a real warm weather tradition to dine at Cappie's whenever we're in the Amsterdam area, and we recommend that you make it one of your traditions too!
