Pig Pit BBQ
is just too good for words. We have been here many times and we always
get stuck on that delicious pulled pork sandwich. This is barbecue at
its best! It's got amazing flavor, and it's piled high on a thick
submarine roll just like back in the day. They've also got a really
sauced up rack of ribs that we love to get messy with. Both of those
pair well with all of their sides, but we like the macaroni salad and
the potato salad the best. Very nice staff, convenient location, and oh
yeah, let's not forget those huge portions. Enough said! 1 Niver St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 235-2323
Black Cat Ale House
is a Polish-owned restaurant where you can indulge in a lot of really
great food in addition to that great list of beers. They've got your
Guinness and your Blue Moon and all your other favorites, in addition
to some that you are probably yet to discover. There's a nice outdoor
patio here that often has live music, and the indoor seating is very
comfortable and relaxed too. What we really love though, is the food.
Excellent burgers and steak fries, and how about that fried chicken?
Great salads too. Everything on the menu comes highly recommended! Nice
prices too. 25 White St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 235-3199
Al-Baraki
is the place to go in Cohoes when you are craving delicious
Mediterranean food! The mezza platter has to be our favorite thing on
the menu, and it's wonderful to share with a hungry group of friends as
a truly appetizing appetizer! If you love baba ghannouj as much as we
do, you will adore it here. Very rich with a bit of a smoked flavor.
Yum. Try the grape leaves for sure, because they are out of this world,
and no matter what you order, get extra garlic paste with it. Truly
delish! Wonderful food, great service, and beautiful decor. 133 Remsen St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 238-1238
Uncle John's Diner
is a real gem hidden right here in Cohoes, and we can never pass up an
opportunity to recommend it. The food is really good, reminiscent of
the home cooked meals that your mother or grandmother used to make. The
omelettes are our favorite thing and they're what we'd recommend most
highly to you. This is purely a breakfast place, open from 7am to
12noon on the weekends and a little longer on the weekdays until
1:30pm, but make a note that they're closed on Tuesdays so you don't
arrive and end up disappointed. No restrooms here either, just so you
know! 300 Ontario St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 233-0727
Mick's Pizza
is highly recommended by everyone who lives in the Cohoes area. Many
say it's the best pizza around! We would not disagree with that, and
one of the reasons that we're so passionate about it is that they have
over thirty toppings to choose from. None of the other places we
frequent even come close to that! They also have excellent subs and
salads, and the wings are just out of this world. If you are craving a
really great pizza, don't miss Mick's Pizza. Don't let that small
exterior fool you... inside is one of the best pizzerias around. 18 Sargent St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 238-2205
Pop's Pizza
is another one of our favorite pizzerias in the area, and this one gets
our vote because of their delicious chicken wings! They're not so spicy
that you can't enjoy the flavor, yet they've got a good kick to them.
They've got fried Oreos here which is a cool treat. Everything is high
quality here, from the pizza toppings to the cheese to the dough they
use to make the crust. Our only complaint about this place, being
lovers of the plastic, is that it's cash only. So make a quick stop at
the ATM before you come in. It's worth the extra trip! 148 Columbia St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 237-7677
Smith's Restaurant of Cohoes
has a really great old school kind of atmosphere... reminiscent of an
old speakeasy, and yet with a menu that feels quite modern with tastes
from all over the world. Pierogies, filet mignon, salads, bruschetta,
mussels... We also love their delicious freshly baked bread seasoned
with creamy garlic and herbs. It's irresistible. Seafood lovers will
want to try the seafood scampi ravioli too, it's definitely a winner.
Don't miss this place when you are visiting Cohoes! 171 Remsen St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 237-9809
Though we've all called McDonald's "Mickey D's" a time or two, Mickey D's Restaurant
in Cohoes has nothing to do with the fast food restaurant by that name.
This wonderful casual restaurant was formerly known as Big G's
Restaurant & Nightclub, and we love its latest incarnation. They
serve great meals all day long, breakfast lunch and dinner, and the
prices are very affordable. We particularly enjoy the early bird
specials from 4:00pm-6:00pm that are all under ten bucks and include
dessert. 50 Oneida St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 590-0166
Joe's Tavern
is one of the most comfortable places to go for a drink and some good
food, especially if you want to do it on the cheap! You honestly will
not believe the prices here. You can get a Coors Light or a Bud for
just a buck, and the food is just as cheap yet so good. If you can
appreciate a good dive bar type of vibe, you will definitely want to
check out Joe's Tavern. Conveniently located on Division Street. 16 Division St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 235-6555
Babe's Diner
is another "cash only" spot that, despite our preference for plastic,
we cannot resist. The breakfasts here are just out of this world,
true old school diner style, with hearty portions and really good old
fashioned flavor. It's really retro here, with lots of Babe Ruth
memorabilia (hence the name), and old linoleum floors that have
probably been here forever. They've got televisions so you can catch
whatever's on TV, and plenty of good coffee to warm you up while you
wait for your meal. You'll love it here! 38 Bedford St Cohoes, NY 12047 (518) 238-2271
