Wild Fig
is a Turkish restaurant, and in our experience Turkish restaurants are
all too hard to find! We love this place. They have amazing food and
very good service. The quality of the ingredients is what we'd credit
with the quality of the finished product here, in addition to the
talent and skill of the chefs. They really know what they're doing. One
of our favorite items here is the gyro, which is made with a fresh pita
straight out of the brick oven, piled high with fresh lettuce, feta
cheese, and a refreshing dressing, and then drizzled with the most
delicious yogurt sauce you'll ever taste. Wow. We're also huge fans of
baklava, and they have several different types here for you to enjoy.
Very highly recommended! 167 Glen St Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 656-5645
Fatty Fish
is a truly amazing sushi restaurant, and you can trust us when we say
that, because we've been to them all! This one really stands out
because they have a ton of really creative rolls that we can't resist.
The 007 Roll is probably our favorite thing on the menu, and we also
really love the Washington Roll, the L.A. Roll, and the Bom Bom Ba.
Lovers of the heat will want to try the Spicy Girl, and of course you
can never go wrong with an Ichiban. Lots of great noodles too for those
who aren't in the mood for sushi or sashimi, but we can never resist
it. Great bento boxes too, and even a nice chicken teriyaki. It's
surprising to find sushi this good right here in Glen Cove, and we love
it. 2 Glen St Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 676-1823
Uncle Dai's Chinese Restaurant
always gets a recommendation from us because the food is just so high
quality here. We're big lovers of egg drop soup, and theirs is really
great, very fresh and authentic. It's true that the restaurant has been
here forever and it has never really been updated, but we love it that
way. Retro and relaxed. The best evidence of how wonderful the food and
service is would have to be the fact that they are always packed with
happy customers. You can expect a wait if you don't arrive early,
especially on the weekends. There's a reason that Uncle Dai's has
lasted this long, and that's because of their unwavering high quality
and excellent food. Very highly recommended. 26 School St Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 671-1144
Gonzalo and Paul's Cactus Cafe
is a great little Mexican restaurant where you can nosh on really
delicious food without spending an arm and a leg on it! When we say a
great little restaurant, we really do mean small. There are only half a
dozen or so tables here. However you never feel cramped or crowded at
all. They've got a wide variety of Tex Mex items that you will not find
elsewhere, like delicious tacos with barbecue pork, steak, and shrimp,
and even a burrito that has barbecue ribs! That's just too good to
believe. Really packed with flavor. We love the casual atmosphere here,
much like a neighborhood pizzeria, except it's instead a nice little
Mexican place! Gotta love it! 214 Glen Cove Ave Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 609-2621
Marra's
is a very cool and unique Italian establishment that has some special
offerings that you will not find anywhere else. For instance, how about
the espresso wings? Those are just unbelievable. They've also got
really great pizzas and tortellini, and possibly the best thing about
it is that everything here is so inexpensive! You can kick back and
relax in their outdoor seating area when the weather is good, or take
advantage of their always-cozy indoor seating area any other time. A
couple of other dishes that we would recommend very highly are the
chopped salad with delicious artichoke hearts and flavorful roasted
peppers, and the pappardelle bolognese is also out of this world! 1 School St Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 609-3335
Steamboat Landing
has got one of the most primo locations, right on the water on Shore
Road. It used to be quite the party spot, always packed with happy
customers on their outdoor deck, but nowadays it's more of a low key
restaurant with food that is of a higher caliber than it used to be.
The staff is still just as friendly and accommodating as they always
were, both the servers and the bartenders always making sure that
you're happy with your meal and that your glasses are always filled.
We'd recommend the tempura fried rock shrimp, the pasta and clams in
white wine sauce, and the clam chowder. But really, anything on the
menu is going to be amazing. The chefs are very skilled, and incredibly
consistent. Great place! 76 Shore Rd Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 759-3921
The Downtown Cafe
is just a cool little bar on School Street where you'll love hanging
out any time you're in Glen Cove. They've got affordable drink prices,
nice and strong and never watered down, and the food is surprisingly
good too! Sitting outside in the summer time is always fun, and there's
plenty of room both indoors and outdoors for seating larger groups of
friends. We've been to their karaoke nights a time or two and they're
always a good time. The music here is generally pop and hip hop, a nice
mix that will keep you on your feet. They do get busy quite early, so
if you want to get a prime seat, arrive as soon as you can. Great place
to chill out with friends and have a great night in Glen Cove. 4 School St Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 759-2233
Glen Cove Bagel Cafe is
one of our favorite lunch stops in the city, though we should warn you
that they are intensely busy at that time. If you don't like waiting in
line, plan to arrive a little before or a little after that lunch hour
and you'll save yourself some time. We love their macaroni salad so
much, and of course their bagel selection is out of this world! You
will not believe how many different types of cream cheese they have to
choose from! If you're not a bagel lover, you can opt for the
sandwiches or salads, and of course no meal here is complete without
one of those deli pickles! Yum! The most common complaint about
this place is a little more expensive than you'd expect, but we say
it's worth it! Very highly recommended. 89 Forest Ave Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 671-3354
Glen Cove Mansion
is of course a very popular event space, so if you have a large event
coming up and you're looking for a great venue, give them a call. This
review, however, is focused on the pub at the mansion, which we love.
It's called Pub 1910, and of course it really began in that year so you
are getting an authentic piece of history right there along with your
drinks and some great conversation. You've got to love the fact that a
one hundred year old bar has an internet jukebox in it. Priceless. The
bartenders here are really excellent, serving some good strong drinks
and keeping the customers happy. Lots of things to do here including
playing darts, shooting pool, and even playing shuffleboard. 200 Dosoris Ln Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 671-6400
Puerto Vallarta,
previously known as Pancho's, is such a cool little Mexican restaurant.
The exterior makes it easy to pass up because you just wouldn't expect
much from it, but please don't overlook this place! The food, the
service, and the ambiance cannot be beat. Beyond that, the prices are
incredibly affordable. People rave about how cheap it is and how great
the food is. We'd have expected the prices to be higher after the
renovations and the name change, but nope. Same great quality, same
great prices. We love the friendly waitstaff here, and you just can't
beat that atmosphere. So cozy and comfortable. Perfect for low key
dates or family dinners! 48 Cedar Swamp Rd Glen Cove, NY 11542 (516) 277-2900
