As we kick off this list we've got to note
that there are a ton of pizzerias on the list. Gloversville is known
for its great pizzerias, and House of Pizza is
one of them! We love coming in for an amazing huge pizza pie, but they
are also known for their pastas, including their delicious shrimp
alfredo, and of course their steaks and salads are also noteworthy!
We've been coming here for years, so you can take our word for it that
their salads are as crisp as they come, and their steaks are perfectly
cooked to order. It's also cool that this is a dine-in restaurant, but
that they also have a drive-thru window for their customers'
convenience. Always a great time here, and great service too. 219 5th Ave Ext Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-9400
Al's Pizza
may not look like much, but they have some of the very best food
around. We are absolutely hooked on their delicious subs, which have
got to be the best in Gloversville. They've also got great pizza slices
on the cheap, so when you're hungry and in a rush, you can just run in
here and grab a quick slice. They've also got incredible bread that's
baked fresh on the premises, and you will definitely want to get
yourself some of that! Once you catch the scent of that delicious
bread, you'll have no choice but to order some. The staff here is so
friendly, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. We can't say
enough about the high quality of this cozy little pizzeria. Definitely
one of the best. 201 N Main St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-8816
The Rail Yard
is a restaurant and bar that we just love to go to with our friends,
family, or even with that special date. You can kick back with a couple
of delicious beers on draft (try the Saranac Imperial IPA! Very highly
recommended), and pair that with a couple of openfaced steak
sandwiches... what more couuld you want? It's paradise on a plate, and
in a glass. The clientele here can be all business at lunchtime and all
families and friends at dinner time, but you'd be wise to call for
reservations no matter what time you're coming in, because when they're
packed, they're packed. Everybody just loves this place and it's hard
to find a time when happy customers aren't filling the place. The Rail
Yard gets our highest recommendation on this list! 97 W Fulton St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-0122
Plaza's Italian Bistro
is yet another pizzeria/Italian restaurant that we simply could not
bear to leave off this list. The thing that comes to mind immediately
when someone says Plaza's is that wonderful soup, salad, and bread bar.
Yum yum yum... too good! They've got a kind of bread here that's
stuffed to overflowing with ham and cheese, and we can never resist it.
The pastas are probably the biggest star of the menu, and that's what
our eyes are always drawn to first. Try the eggplant parmesan too, it's
amazing! You'll come for the food and stay for the decor... we love
gazing at that beautiful copper ceiling, for one thing! Very retro and
cool. 130 N Pine St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-4007
Another pizza joint? Yep, but not just any pizza joint... THE Pizza Joint!
That's the actual name of it. Everybody that we know raves about the
pizza here, and no matter what you order, they always give you huge
portions of it! The zeppolis are just fantastic, little pieces of fried
dough with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled heavily on them... if you're
expecting a tiny container of them, think again, they really give you a
LOT. Enough to share! The staff here is so friendly to us every time we
come in, and of course they've got delivery too so if you don't feel
like leaving the house, you don't need to! Very fast delivery too.
We're always shocked that they can get it here that fast. Very highly
recommended. 151 N Main St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-0011
Gloversville Palace Diner
is a wonderful cozy spot that serves up huge portions at very
affordable prices. Breakfast is a real joy here, with their hearty
selections and friendly service. We love the french toast, and you
can't go wrong with eggs, meat, and toast. They do it right. We've come
in several times and have always been impressed by the clean
surroundings, friendly staff, and of course those amazingly big
portions! There's nothing better than coming in on a weekend morning
for a hearty breakfast, and really filling up on all your favorites
including eggs, meats, toast, waffles, french toast, hash browns... all
those delicious things that make breakfasts worthwhile. Gloversville
Place Diner is a real winner in our book. 62 S Main St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-9056
New York Lunch
is known for their hot dogs of course, and that's the very reason that
we have come back time and time again. Of course the meatsauce is also
one of their specialties, and when you have a hearty helping of that
slathered all over your hot dog along with some saurkraut, spicy brown
mustard, and delicious onion slices, you've got a real winner of a dog.
Our friends always say that this place reminds them of the diner from
Happy Days, and that's one of the reasons that they love going there so
much. We love it too. Friendly service, old fashioned style, and hot
dogs that you can never grow tired of... That's more than enough
reasons for you to check this one out asap! 21 Bleecker St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-4170
Choo Choo's Ice Cream
is conveniently located right across from The Rail Yard, and it's the
perfect place to go for dessert after you've had a hearty meal across
the street. Of course, being an ice cream shoppe, it's open seasonally
and it seems to be closed more than it's open, so you may want to call
ahead and make sure they're open on the day that you're going! We love
their ice cream and their blended treats, and of course that
oh-so-charming train theme that all the generations of kids have loved
so much. When you're craving something cool and refreshing on a hot
summer day, Choo Choo's Ice Cream is the essential choice in
Gloversville. 87 W Fulton St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 773-9005
Travers Diner
is our top favorite breakfast spot in Gloversville, no questions asked!
They've got a wild variety of breakfast foods, much like the larger
chain breakfast restaurants but with a more home style quality, with
everything being homemade and totally fresh. We really love the
pancakes and waffles here, and the eggs and meats are very good too.
They've also got some Greek offerings on the menu, including delicious
gyros and really tasty tzaziki sauce that sets them off just perfectly.
The crowd here is mostly of the mature set, so it's a little quieter
and more laid back than some of the other popular breakfast joints in
the area, which we appreciate! Always a great start to the day here. 237 County Highway 128 Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-0444
Jamie & Scott's Downtowner
is one of our favorite restaurants in the area, really making a name
for itself in record time. Their salads are probably our favorite thing
here, especially the one with fresh greens, goat cheese, and balsamic
vinaigrette. The flavors blend together so seamlessly and it's just the
freshest thing you can imagine. They've got a really great selection of
beers here too, so you can kick back during or after your meal and get
a little buzz going. The affordable prices are also a boon for this
restaurant, making it a nice choice for dates or gatherings where
you're paying for a group of friends. Everything is very high quality
here and the staff is so friendly too! Love it! 52 Cayadutta St Gloversville, NY 12078 (518) 725-8877
