Le Canard-Enchaine
is one of our favorite French restaurants of all time, and it's so
conveniently located right here in Kingston. They have a two course
lunch prix-fixe that we simply cannot resist, and would you like to
know what one of the best features of this restaurant is? That would be
the fact that they serve this fine French food in very American
portions! So you get a lot more bang for your buck here than you
ordinarily would at any French restaurant in the state. We love their
beef bordelaise and the casoulet with duck confit. The wine list is
quite impressive here too, and the servers are very knowledgeable about
what wine goes with which dish. Wonderful for dates or for family
get-togethers. 276 Fair St Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 339-2003
Armadillo Bar & Grill
is such an awesome place to hang out and have drinks, but it also
happens to be a really wonderful Mexican restaurant. We've been coming
here for so many years that we can't imagine Kingston without it! The
queso fondue is really amazing, served with their famous "chippies" so
you can scoop up all that gooey goodness with the fresh red and green
peppers in it! Mmm mmm good! The outdoor patio is always a pleasure to
dine on during the warmer months of the year, and the indoor dining
area is a pleasure the rest of the time. We'd recommend starting off
with any of their brews or ales, and a nice appetizer of chips with
pico de gallo and green salsa. Too good! Everything on the menu is
incredible. One of our highest recommendations. 97 Abeel St Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 339-1550
Kyoto Sushi...
this restaurant has been rumored to have the freshest sushi in the
area, and we've tried just about every restaurant around, so we'd say
that claim is pretty dead-on. One of our favorite special rolls is the
crunchy shrimp mango, which is really packed with an incredible amount
of flavor and it impressed everyone at our table who shared a bite. The
spicy tuna tempura roll is also noteworthy. The age tofu is also
fantastic, a bit soft for our tastes, but incredibly flavorful. For an
appetizer we would very highly recommend the hamachikama. The service
at this restaurant is really a cut above the rest, and we love the
casual yet elegant atmosphere that makes it perfect for just about any
occasion. 337 Washington Ave Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 339-1128
Picnic Pizza is
well known in the Kingston area, and for good reason! Everybody loves
the huge amount of different pizzas that they have here, and you really
can't beat the price for their combo that gets you a couple of slices
along with a drink. We won't quote the price here in case it changes by
the time you read this, but in any case it's one of the cheapest combos
you're going to find in the state! It's true that the exterior doesn't
hold any promise for what may lay inside, but trust us when we say that
you should not judge this book by its cover! They've got a wood burning
oven here which just may explain some of that incredible flavor! You do
not want to miss this one when you're in the area! 501 Washington Ave Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 331-3000
Kings Valley Diner
is a great little spot to go for all your favorite old fashioned
delights along with some of the old fashioned service that goes along
with it. We really love their egg sandwiches and french dip sandwiches,
and you cannot beat their wonderful cupcakes for dessert! If you're a
corned beef hash lover like we are, you definitely will want to stop in
for breakfast and enjoy some of that. They've got some very nice Greek
specialties too, including souvlaki and gyros. Mmm, so delish! Try the
chicken caesar wrap and the buffalo chicken wrap too. We think you'll
be very pleased with everything that they have to offer here, including
the super clean atmosphere and wonderful service. 617 Ulster Ave Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 331-3254
Golden Ginza Japanese Restaurant
is a wonderful place to go for everything that is good about Japan.
Their tempura is one of the things that really shines here, very
flavorful and crispy. Truly, the hibachi is the star of the show here,
taking a backseat to that tempura, udon, and sushi. It's so cool to
come in with a group of co-workers, friends, or family and sit at one
of those hibachi tables, just watching the chef go to work to both
entertain you and cook for you. It's really fun and unique. If your'e
opting for sushi, we'd very highly recommend the titanic toll! For a
drink, don't miss the volcano, served in a bowl with a flame. Serves
two! 24 Broadway Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 339-8132
Elephant
is just one of the most gorgeous restaurants that you will visit in the
Kingston area. If you are looking for delicious tapas, you will not
find any that's better than this. The pork belly and pineapple tacos
are one of our favorite dishes, and the flavor will really knock you
off your feet. So good! They've also got an escargot toast that is
unbelievable, blended with the mouth watering flavors of mushroom and
bacon plus sherry! Wow. They've got a very nice selection of wines and
beers, with a heavier emphasis on the wine list but the beers are
well-chosen. The staff is very friendly and they really go out of their
way to make sure you enjoy yourself, but the service can be a little
bit slow here. Still, very highly recommended! 310 Wall St Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 339-9310
Skytop Steakhouse and Brewing Company
is one of the more unique places you can go to in Kingston. We have
seen comedy shows here in the past and it's always a great time! They
have a gorgeous terrace so you can sit and enjoy the warm breeze in the
summer months. They've got a decent selection of beers, but nothing
like you'd expect at a place that lists "Brewing Company" in the
title--note that they are no longer a brewpub, so it's just a list of
local beers and domestic beers. Good stuff, but not the microbrew
specialties that you may be jonesing for. However, the steaks are
really out of this world along with everything else on the menu. Very
good food, and pretty good beer! We still love this place. 237 Forest Hill Dr Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 340-4277
Dallas Hot Weiners
is of course known for their delicious hots, and there is no better
place to stop in with the family for a quick meal that won't break the
bank! We also love their cheese dogs and the cheese fries with Dallas
sauce. It's almost too good to believe! They've got the shoestring
potatoes here as opposed to those thick overly seasoned fries that most
hots places seem to serve, and we love that old fashioned style fry.
There are a few of these Dallas Hot Weiners restaurants in the area,
but we've heard that this is the original, the one that has stood the
test of time for more than 75 years. Though it's been here forever,
you'd never know it--it's incredibly clean and well maintained! We love
it. 51 N Front St Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 338-6094
Ship to Shore Steak & Seafood Restaurant
is one of the best after-work spots in Kingston, for both a couple
stiff drinks and a really hearty meal. They've got delicious steaks,
with incredible garlic mashed potatoes and very good vegetables. The
calamari fritti is just amazing, and the ahi tuna tower is one of those
things that you see in your dreams afterwards! Really, it was that
good! We love the sesame seeds that cover the tuna, and the avocado is
so fresh and flavorful, providing a nice creamy complement to the tuna
itself. We love the ambiance here, which begins with that authentic
storefront from the 1800s and ends with a very carefully decorated and
maintained interior. We can't say enough about how much we love this
place. Very highly recommended! 15 W Strand St Kingston, NY 12401 (845) 334-8887
