Pete's Hot Dog Stand
is one of the best places to go in Newburgh for some really delicious
hot dogs! We love to order Pete's Original, which is a hot dog with
mustard and onions. We're big chili fans, but once we tried the plain
dog with mustard and onions, we fell in love with it. This restaurant
is very small but always busy, and since it doesn't take long to scarf
down some dogs, you get in and out pretty quickly even when they're
packed. The prices are cheap, the ambiance is diner chic at its best,
and the service is that great old fashioned style that you just can't
find anywhere these days. Note that it's one of those cash only places,
so stop at the ATM if you don't have any green on hand. 293 S William St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 561-0211
Torches on the Hudson
is just gorgeous at night, dining outdoors during the warmer months of
the year is a pleasure that you have to discover for yourself. The
service here has always been top notch, with servers who really care
about your dining experience, and who are very knowledgeable about the
menu. It's nice to just come in and sit at the bar, sipping delicious
cocktails and watching the fish swim in that beautiful aquarium. As you
can imagine, that's perfect for those romantic dates too. Be sure to
try the mixed seafood grill, the spinach dip appetizer, and of course
that delicious seafood chowder. They've got a dessert menu that is
definitely worth a peek too. Very good food and drinks and the price
isn't too high considering how amazing the place is! 120 Front St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 568-0100
Caffe Macchiato
sounds like it would just be a coffee shop, but in actuality it's a
fantastic full service cafe with delicious breakfasts, lunches,
brunches, and more! Try the coconut waffles and french toast, they are
amazing! We really love the paninis here, and they've got a baguette
with eggs, ham, sprouts, greens, and zesty marinara sauce that is so
delicious and fresh tasting. All of the coffee drinks rival your other
favorite coffee shop (trust us!) and we especially enjoy the
personalized service and the friendly staff. The atmosphere is another
reason to continue coming here. It's just so cozy and comfortable. You
can't beat the convenient location. 99 Liberty St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 565-4616
The River Grill
has always been a great place to go, both because of its incredible
food, and because they are so consistent! It's one of the best
restaurants around, with a truly gorgeous view and a very impressive
menu. We love the bread with butter and olive topping, and can't
imagine a better way to start a meal. The clams with chorizo is really
a fantastic dish and it's a combination that we have not seen
elsewhere. The steaks are also really wonderful here, not overspiced
and always cooked perfectly to order. Try the potato croquettes too,
they are a very nice complement to your meal. For brunch you've simply
got to order the eggs benedict! Their hollandaise sauce is really
wonderful. The prices here are surprisingly reasonable for this kind of
quality! 40 Front St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 561-9444
Alexis Diner
is one of our favorite breakfast spots in Newburgh, with their
wonderful thick french toast, and their enormous omelettes that are
packed with meat, veggies, and cheese! We absolutely love their coffee
too. For the non-breakfast items they've got a wide array of
foods from all over the world, including Italian, Greek, and Mexican. In
keeping with that, they have one of the most unique decor themes of any
restaurant we've ever been to, with a different country featured in the
artwork of each room. If you love diner fare and that comfy old
fashioned type of ambiance, then you will really feel right at home at
Alexis Diner. We always do. 411 Route 9W Newburgh, NY 12555 (845) 565-1400
The Blue Martini
is a very cool nightclub located right on the Hudson River here in
Newburgh. We love the music that they play here, mostly hip hop, and
the neverending high energy vibe that permeates the entire club. You'll
spend most of the night on the dancefloor, but when you're not, you'll
be chilling in their cozy seating areas and enjoying the company of
your friends. The age groups that hang here are widely varied, so it's
not just a young crowd or an old crowd. That kind of diversity is a nod
to how great this place really is. We really love the sushi and the
drinks here too. If you like to get a little more dressed up when you
go out, which unfortunately isn't the norm nowadays, you can do that
here. That's definitely one of the perks. 50 Front St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 562-7111
Cena 2000
is known as one of the very best Italian restaurants in Newburgh, maybe
THE best, and we have had many wonderful experiences here over the
years. For special occasions and birthdays, you just can't beat a
dinner here. They've got lots of delicious game meats if that's your
thing, and wonderful seafood too. The wine list is really noteworthy
and you can rely on the servers to guide you to the right wine if you
aren't a sommelier yourself. People tend to fixate on the wine here
because they're known for it, but take it from us, the martinis are
also really excellent. Great service, amazing ambiance, and delicious
entrees and desserts. You will definitely enjoy yourself here to say
the least! 50 Front St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 561-7676
Big Easy Bistro
is of course a Cajun and Creole restaurant that brings all the
wonderful flavors of New Orleans right here to our neck of the woods in
Newburgh. We really adore the pork chops stuffed with gorgonzola cheese
and spinach with wine sauce... we've ordered it several times and it's
a real knockout. They've got great po boy sandwiches here, plus really
delicious burgers, and we also love their fried shrimp sandwiches. For
a change of pace try the fried scallop sandwich too. They've got a very
nice selection of beers on draft and in bottles. You'll love the New
Orleans decor and the voodoo style that is woven throughout it. Don't
forget to try the gumbo! It's fantastic! 40 Front St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 565-3939
Machu Picchu Peruvian Restaurant
is one of the better places to try Peruvian food if you never have
before. They've got a really extensive menu here, much larger than what
we have seen at any other Peruvian restaurants in New York, and there's
also a nice lunch menu that will help you to save a few bucks while
trying several different things. Try the escabeche de pescado if you
are a fish lover. You will not be disappointed. They've got a very nice
selection of beers here including Peruvian beer, but none of it is on
draft. The service is always very friendly here too. Very nice ambiance. 301 Broadway Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 562-6478
The Wherehouse
is a wonderful American barbecue restaurant that we've had the pleasure
of dining at several times in the past year. They've got a lot of
options for vegetarians here too, which is a surprise, and lots of
hamburgers and sandwiches for the meat eaters out there as well. You
can get either regular fries or sweet potato fries here, and it's nice
to have the option, though we'll tell you straight up that the sweet
potato fries are the clear choice! They're so good. They've got a very
unique twist on a Cuban sandwich, great plantains, and delicious wings.
Nice selection of beer, and live music at certain times too! Very cool
place to chill with friends and relax the hard work week away. 119 Liberty St Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 561-7240
