Beef'n Barrel is such a familiar site on North Union Street in Olean, with that striped awning that beckons you to come in side and enjoy some of the warm and hearty treats that are inside those four walls. This is a real haven for roast beef lovers, because the meat here is such high quality and yet so very affordable. You simply cannot go wrong with their hot roast beef sandwich, covered in gravy and served with mashed potatoes. The french onion soup is also an essential on this menu as far as we are concerned. We also love their yankee pot roast sandwiches and their chicken and biscuits! Beef on weck is a real treat here, definitely some of the best that we have ever had.  Be sure to give this restaurant a try next time you're in Olean! Top notch, and then some.

Renna's Pizza is one of the places that would make our overall list of top ten pizza restaurants in New York! No kidding. Their crispy thin crust is so amazing, really the standard that we hold all other thin crusts to! They have kept the same consistent high quality here from day one, and as decade after decade passes, they just continue to hold themselves to that same level of high quality. There are two locations nearby but this one in the mall is the best as far as we are concerned. The old standbys always win out over the new guys! Try their wonderful homemade drinks here, lemonade, limeade, and orangeade. We always loved playing their arcade games here too. Always great service and just the best food around, hands down!

The Old Library has a rich history and is a real tradition in Olean. Over the years we have come to town and dined here for many special occasions. The ambiance here is really out of this world, really one of the restaurants that would make even the most seasoned foodies go wild! One of our favorite dishes here is the Roast Long Island Duckling. It's very tasty. They make the Caesar salad right at the table in front of you. We don't see this at restaurants often enough, and it's a nice touch. They also have a nice selection of wine, beer, and spirits. If you're looking for a nice restaurant with space to rent for your private events, give The Old Library a call. They've always treated us well over the years and the quality is simply unparalleled.

Century Manor Grillhouse & Suites is located in a former home, which lends a certain air of authenticity and old fashioned charm. It's rare that you get the opportunity to dine in surroundings like these, and you also have access to the hotel, so you can stay the night if you have one too many drinks, or if you'd just like to extend your relaxed dinner into an even more relaxed evening away! They've got really great steaks here, very high quality and cooked to perfection, and we'd recommend the center cut rib-eye, or of course you can never go wrong with a filet mignon or a prime rib. Delicious salads too, and a very nice bar where you can sit and enjoy a drink or two either before or after your meal. This restaurant is very highly recommended if you enjoy a meal that is as much an escape from the typical day to day grind as it is a way to refresh and refuel! Excellent service too. You will love this place.

Chef's Bistro is a really fantastic place to go with a group of your friends, your family, or even your business colleagues for a really great lunch or dinner any day of the week. They have some of the best pasta in town, and because of that we have never been able to stray from the pasta part of the menu! Our friends have assured us that everything is just as good as the pasta though. They have good strong cocktails here at a price you can afford. We recommend the Bistro Martini, one of the specialties of the house. Try the tortilla chips with garlic artichoke cheese dip for an appetizer, and for your meal we'd suggest any pasta with alfredo sauce, as well as the chicken parmesan, the tenderloin medallions, and the tandoori seafood. Everything is so delicious here, and the service is so great. Wonderful ambiance too. Just an all around winner!

Attard's Restaurant is a nice change of pace from most of the other restaurants in Olean, and we really love it here. The appetizers are one of our favorite things here, with a really nice variety of choices as opposed to the typical "chicken fingers - mozzarella sticks - calamari" type of appetizer menu. They also have a nice drink menu, with all of the drinks being good and strong, and still affordable. They do shut down between lunch and dinner, so if you are coming in the afternoon you may want to give them a call and find out what their hours are on that day just to be sure. Nice vegan and vegetarian choices too. Try their Greek pierogies and Italian gelato, as well as the amazing Ethiopian chicken! It doesn't get any more eclectic than that!

A & J's Sub & Pizza Shop... the title pretty much says it all! This is one of those cozy little pizzerias and sub shops where you know you can always come in any time and get a really fantastic meal without breaking the bank. We really love their subs and salads here the best, with all the crisp toppings that you love, always superbly fresh. The local college students have pretty much made this their lunch spot of choice, but it's not because it's cheap, because the prices are actually just a little bit high for this area of New York. Is it worth it though? Every penny. We love the french fries with the melted cheese and bacon, and their wings are very good too. Vegetarians will love their cheese subs! Really delish. Very highly recommended any time you are in the Olean area!

Napoli Pizza is another one of our favorite pizzerias, with a menu that runs the gamut from delicious cheesy pizza to thick stuffed calzones, from hearty subs to fresh crisp salads, from deep fried goodies to rich pasta. Mmm mmm mmm, once you get a bite of their wonderful food you will be hooked for life. We generally get delivery from this place, and though their delivery time seems to be a bit longer than all the other places around, the food is also that much better, so it's a trade off. And we'll take the better food any day! The party trays of pizza and wings will really feed a lot of people at your private get togethers. The spaghetti is really good here, with hearty meatballs and flavorful garlic bread. You'll also want to try their amazing subs. Just too good to be true!

Renna's West & Mio Gelato Cafe is new Renna's location, and though we mentioned that their mall location is better (at least according to us and our circle of friends!), this one will do if you are in a rush and you don't want to go all the way into the mall to grab a great pizza or a sub or salad. They've got all the same menu items as the original location so you know you can get that good old fashioned flavor. They've got excellent ice cream here, and we've had their chocolate covered strawberries too and they are really as good as they get! So flavorful and really drizzled with the right amount of rich chocolate. We've had so many good times at Renna's over the years, we're happy to recommend both locations to you here!

Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is a little less restaurant and a little more takeout! They do have a few tables for dining in, but the focus is really on the takeout and we like it that way. We really enjoy the flavor of their hot and sour soup, and it's really packed with high quality ingredients too. They have nice hearty portions here, so you can often get by with just one dinner portion between two people (depending of course on how hungry you are!). They've got all your traditional Chinese favorites here, so you can just come right in, order what you like, and really be in and out in just ten minutes or so. We've always loved this place and we're certain that you will too. Perfect for a quick meal on our party bus!
