The Peekskill Brewery has been one of our top choices in the Peekskill area for quite some time now! This past St. Patrick's Day we came in and enjoyed their Kegs 'n Eggs specials, and later in the evening they had live music to really set the night off. We always have such a good time here. They've got a lot of really good brews here and you can opt for some of the house made brews or perhaps some of your domestic and imported favorites instead. A nice wide selection so you can take your pick. We really love the blackened chicken sandwich (we're always a sucker for blackened chicken!) and it comes with a really delicious red pepper mayo that just sets the flavor off just right. Wonderful service and great ambiance too. One of the most recommended restaurants on this list!

Birdsall House is probably our top pick for a bar in the area. We've come in a bunch of times and have always been treated to the same consistent high quality service, and of course that great food and drink selection doesn't hurt either! The Hemlock Hill burger is probably our favorite thing on the menu. They've got a really enormous selection of craft brews here, with lots of New York selections for you to choose from. If you're looking for a new brunch place in the area, we'd recommend this one. Their bloody marys and mimosas are so good! They often have a DJ here which is a nice treat. Don't forget to try that beet burger too, but note that it doesn't come with fries. Everything's so good, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! And a great little hangout spot indeed.

12 Grapes Restaurant is a wine bar and restaurant where you can really let your hair down and relax after a long week at work. We love coming in to enjoy some of their selections by the bottle or by the glass, and they have such a wonderful array of food to pair with them. You'll love the salmon dinner and the shrimp dinner, and the tuna is also very good! Don't miss the miso-glazed butterfish. It's mouth wateringly good. Before you get to that though, we'd recommend the cheese and charcuterie platter, it's a fabulous beginning to any meal. The desserts, too, are magnificent! We'd recommend the green tea ice cream and the plum cake which also comes with ginger ice cream. Wonderful music and ambiance as well. Sure, the price is a little bit high here, but it's worth it. Always a great experience.

Homestyle Desserts Bakery has got to be from another planet. There's no other way to describe the otherworldly delights that come out of those four walls! Wow. We have begun coming here for every single one of our friend's birthdays to pick them up a cake or some other delectable treat. When you see their creations, you'll understand why. Try the chocolate decadence cake, that's one of our favorites. The cheesecakes are just amazing here. And how about that raspberry drizzle cake? Wow. The cookies are equally delicious, and we'd recommend the black and white cookies the most. There is such a wide array of delights to enjoy here, and there's nowhere near enough room to list them all here. So be sure to stop in on your own, in person, to check out everything they have to offer. You will not find treats like this anywhere else!

BeanRunner Cafe is like a little escape from the cares of the world... a place where you can enjoy your favorite coffees and teas while listening to the soft sounds of jazz and blues... The only thing that we've ever heard people complain about here is that you have to pay a cover charge when there is live music, but keep in mind that you're paying an artist for their work and that's never a bad thing. They've got wonderful soups and sandwiches here too, and good cookies and cakes if you've got a sweet tooth! Wonderful salads as well. We love the building since it's an original from the mid 1800s, and the restorations have really served it well. You can feel the history here, yet it's clean and modern. Try the iced coffee too! So good. Very highly recommended to coffee and tea lovers (and jazz lovers!) in the Peekskill area.

Westchester Diner is a great spot to go for wonderful food at an affordable price. We're not sure how long this place has been in business, but we have been enjoying it for at least the last ten years, and it just seems to get better with time. They go with the train theme here, with trains running on tracks on the walls, and the kids of course love that. We love the fact that this restaurant is open all night long, so if you're coming in from a late night at the bar and need to grab a bite to eat, this is a great bet. What are our top choices here? The good old diner standards like hamburgers, chicken fingers, french fries, or of course, breakfast! Wonderful coffee and you can't beat their daily specials!

Zeph's is really a wonderful place to go for those special occasions in life. When you're celebrating an anniversary and you're in the Peekskill area, Zeph's immediately comes to mind, and it's always a great bet. We especially enjoy their roasted eggplant phyllo pie (like a spinach pie) with feta, and they have spiced lamb kafta that is also really a very nice treat. The duck confit is very highly recommended, very rich and crispy just as duck should be. It comes with a really delicious chutney as well as the vegetable of the day and some potato pie. You'll definitely want to save room for dessert here... it's always too good to resist! Conveniently located on Central Avenue, you can't miss this one, nor should you!

Division Street Grill is another one of the more upscale choices on this list, and we have enjoyed ourselves here time and time again. The apricot duck is one of our favorite things to get, so much that we have ordered it several times. The mahi mahi is also really excellent. We enjoy the seared tuna here too, and you can't go wrong with a hearty portion of their portobello soup, or perhaps an order of their famous crab cakes! For dessert you'll definitely want to opt for a slice of that incredible tiramisu. Some of the best that we have ever tasted. The service is always excellent here, and the ambiance is good enough to warrant it a spot in NYC itself, though it's conveniently found right here in Peekskill. You'll absolutely love it.

Ruben's Mexican Cafe is such a refreshing place to go for a wonderful Mexican meal! The quality of the food is truly in a class of its own, and the ambiance is just so fresh and modern. There's even a bar area where you can relax with a cold brewski. They always start off your meal with the free chips and salsa, and it's really, really good. Sometimes we order some guacamole to go along with it and that's always a nice choice. Their black bean soup is just amazing, and we also really love their chicken burritos. After your meal, you'll be glad if you saved some room for dessert, because they have a wonderful margarita cheesecake (literally NYC cheesecake with a small margarita poured over it, it's so good!), as well as delicious flan, incredible tiramisu, and wonderful fried ice cream that they light right at your table! Such a fun time. Always recommended.

Nonna's Brick Oven Pizzeria & Restaurant is such a charming place to go for a really great pizza. Don't let that unassuming shopping cener location fool you. It's some of the best pizza in town and it's very cozy for dine-in evenings too! The front of the restaurant is where you'd order your pies to go, and the back is where you would dine. They make the crust just thin and just thick enough here, with just the right amount of sauce and cheese and toppings to really make for an excellent pizza. Our good friends even told us that they arrived late one night and they still let them sit down and eat! Where are you going to find a place with service that good? Nowhere but here. Nonna's Brick Oven is very highly recommended.
