Johnstown Party Bus

Traveling to Johnstown, New York? We've spent a considerable amount of time here and have narrowed down the best of the best bars and restaurants, at least according to our personal taste! Check out these great places next tim you are in the 12095 zip.

Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar is one of the newer restaurants in the area (not really new at this point in time but one of the most recent ones to show up in our city). When it was fresh and new all the locals couldn't get enough of it, but by now the gloss has worn off and it's just one of many options in the area. It seems that everyone has forgotten just how good this location really is. They've got wonderful steaks and pastas, and the bar is a nice cozy spot to end the night with a few tasty drinks. They're known for their margaritas, and they really are wonderful! We definitely recommend coming in any time for a hearty steak and a crisp margarita. Can't beat it!

Forever Youngs is one of our favorite places to go for brunch when we are in the Johnstown area. They keep it very clean here and it's very nicely decorated. We always feel right at home when we walk through those doors. Their french toast croissants are just out of this world, and you will not be able to get enough of that amazing cinnamon raisin bread! It's homemade too, which just makes it even better. They are closed on Mondays, but it more than makes up for it that they serve breakfast until 2:00 PM throughout the rest of the week! Very tasty and filling lunches too. You'll love stopping in to enjoy that great service and the unbeatable atmosphere. One of our top picks in Johnstown!

Friendly's Restaurant is a real tradition in the Johnstown area, from that nostalgic atmosphere and retro decor to the unbelievable ice cream that they're known for! We are chocolate lovers to say the least, and their chocolate brownie sundae is really something that you cannot miss! The service has gotten slower in recent years, but in our experience the food and the ice cream is of the same caliber that it was back in the day. Friendly staff, clean atmosphere, crayons for the kids, comfy seating... what more can we say about this New York institution? "One of the best" is barely an adequate description. Very highly recommended to you!

Patricia's is one of the coziest hangout spots in the area, and we always come in to enjoy the dance floor! The drink prices are just unbelievably low here... you can come in and buy a round of drinks for your friends and you'll wonder how it could possibly come out so cheap! Patricia, or Patty, the owner of the place, always seems to remember everybody's names, and that is such a rarity nowadays. They've got our trusty Labatt's Blue here that we love, and you just won't believe the prices for all the beers here. We don't want to quote them because they may change by the time you read this, but we will say that they are very low! The lowest we have found in the area. We don't know how Patty does it. Very highly recommended!

Sam's Seafood & Steakhouse is our top choice for an intimate date night dinner spot in Johnstown. We absolutely love the steaks and seafood here, and they've also got a very nice selection of other meats too, including pork and chicken. The scallops in butter is one of the most delectable dishes you will find on the menu, and the pork chops are really juicy and good too. We recommend ordering the sweet potato fries with whatever you get, because they complement every single dish so masterfully. It's true that this is one of the more expensive restaurants in Johnstown, but you definitely get some serious bang for your buck. Try the calimari appetizer, and if you're a shrimp lover, you cannot go wrong with the shrimp linguine for dinner! Too good!

Union Hall Inn is a restaurant that we have not yet had the pleasure of visiting ourselves, but that has been recommended to us by many of our friends. They have told us on repeated occasions that this is the very best restaurant in all of Johnstown, and that they have an incredible menu of smaller portion items that will give you more than enough food at a much lower price, so if you're budget-conscious with not that big of an appetite, you can't go wrong with that. We've been told that the ambiance is superb, with very comfortable seating and very clean surroundings. The lighting is cozy without being too dim or too bright. And the service is always very fast and very friendly. If what we have heard about Union Hall Inn is true, you won't be disappointed!

Romana's Italian Kitchen is the place to go in Johnstown if you are seeking delicious Italian food! We really love all of their pastas, especially their spaghetti and fettuccine, and we also have a lot of good things to say about their crisp fresh salads and their tasty homemade soups. We have been here many times with friends and with family, and we have always been treated to only the very best service. Whether you're a meat eater or a vegetarian, you will find many options on the menu that fit your tastes perfectly, and we have found that everything has just the right amount of spice here too. Never too overwhelming or too bland. Definitely one of our higher recommendations for a cozy family restaurant!

Johnstown Peking Chinese Restaurant has been our favorite spot to go in Johnstown for delicious Chinese food for many years now. They have all your favorites when it comes to delicious Chinese dishes, including wonderful lo mein, delicious General Tso's chicken, sesame chicken, beef with broccoli, chow mein and chop suey, and all those old standbys that we all love so much. You can't go wrong with any of their delicious homemade appetizers or soups either, and the ambiance here is casual yet comfortable, just a good spot to relax with a delicious hot plate of food and refuel after a long hard day at work. Great place to go with the family or with your kids!

Rainbow Restaurant didn't used to be one of our favorite restaurants in the area, but then they came under new management and things are really on the upswing. They have added new decor and really cleaned the place up, and they also have lots of new items on the menu that will really satisfy even the hungriest diners. Where the food used to be quite bland, it's very flavorful and fresh now. The service wasn't anything to write home about either, but now it has really perked up and the staff really seems like they care about the customers and what kind of a time you have while you're there. It's just been a complete turnaround, and because of that we felt that they deserved a spot on this list. Very good!

Vintage Cafe always gets our recommendation because they have some of the best specials in town. Really flavorful dishes at a price that anybody can afford. They've got some of the best juicy hamburgers and overflowing sandwiches that you will find in the Johnstown area. This seems like it would be an all night diner, and we really wish it was. Note that it can get crazy busy around the lunch hour, so if you are planning for a quick lunch, you'll want to arrive early or maybe a little bit past the lunch rush! It's worth the wait if you can afford the time though. Incredibly good food, very fast and friendly service, and the kind of old fashioned atmosphere that everybody loves. Five stars and then some!
