Plattsburgh Party Bus

When your find yourself in Plattsburgh, New York (hopefully on a trip with NYC Party Bus!), we don't want you to wander around trying to find a good spot to eat or to grab a drink. So we've compiled a list of our personal favorite bars and restaurants in the 12901 and 12903 zip codes. We hope you enjoy them!

Sawatdee Thai Restaurant has always been one of the best places to go for some really delicious flavors and all the best Thai recipes that you love. They have a huge menu with a large array of items, and we basically love everything with shrimp. Their moo ping is a very good appetizer and it's one that we have not found at too many Thai restaurants before unless our memory fails us! It comes with delicious duck sauce too, and that's the perfect combination. The Thai iced tea is one of our favorite things too, very refreshing and always icy cold just the way it should be. Super creamy too. The service here is always excellent and the ambiance is very comfortable. Charming decor. If you're in the mood for something different and delicious, try the Spicy Basil Duck!

Irises Cafe and Wine Bar is situated on a charming block with other businesses, and we've always loved this location. If you're looking for an impressive place to dine with your friends or loved ones, or perhaps visitors from out of town, Irises Cafe and Wine Bar is always a very nice choice. Their wine flights of whites or reds are always a nice treat, and their dinner menu is very extensive and impressive. Their risotto is really wonderful here, and we love their fresh crisp salads. If you're not big on wine, you'll be happy to know that they have some amazing martinis here as well. When you pair all those delectable delights with the fact that they have live jazz here, you really have a winner! We feel very comfortable recommending Irises to you. You'll love it!

Naked Turtle has a prime spot right there on the marina, and this of course makes it a lively night spot when you are visiting Plattsburgh in the summer. It is, in fact, only open in the summer. Everybody just loves it here. The food isn't really the star of the show here, though we have enjoyed a lot of burgers here over the years and they're not bad. They have a nice array of appetizers too including good cheese sticks and nachos. The drinks aren't anything too crazy either, just your standard domestic beers and mixed drinks and liquors, but the prices are nice and cheap compared to your NYC favorites and the drinks are always good and strong. The waitstaff is always really friendly and happy to serve you here. Gotta love that patio that's packed with memories from summers past.

Karma Indian Cuisine is the place for you if you really love hearty Indian dishes served in enormous portions! We just love coming in to enjoy those perfumey flavors wafting through the air and tickling our tastebuds... nobody does it better than Karma. The Chicken Korma is one of our favorite dishes here, which is a chicken curry dish with raisins and almonds. Such an amazing combination of flavors. To drink we love to opt for the Mango Lassi, which isn't quite big enough for our tastes but the flavor is just out of this world. The naan is very good here, and it's super cheap too. We'd also recommend the Aloo Gobhi and the Aloo Tikki. If you are a lover of all those exotic Indian flavors like we are, then you won't want to miss this place!

Anthony's Restaurant & Bistro is a lovely French restaurant that we've had the pleasure of dining at a couple of times in the past  few years. When you've got family visiting from out of town and you're looking for something really special and impressive, Anthony's is always a great choice. They have a bistro side and a fine dining side, so you can take your choice. We love the fine dining side for its extravagant choices and rich flavors. The mustard-encrusted salmon is really delicious and we also love the stuffed chicken with spinach and goat cheese. If you sit on the other side we'd recommend the beef skewers, they are just out of this world! No matter which side you sit on, be sure to opt for dessert. No matter what you choose from the dessert menu, you'll be in heaven!

Smoked Pepper has been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for quite a while now, but lately it seems to have gotten even better than ever! We didn't think it was possible to improve on perfection, but it really does seem that they've done just that. The mole rojo enchiladas are one of our favorite things on the menu, and we also love the chips and salsa as a starter. Wonderful margaritas too if you'd like a crisp refreshing alcoholic beverage to go along with your hearty meal. They've got breakfast here too, which is a nice surprise. The breakfast could be criticized as not being authentic because it comes with hash browns, but we think that's a delightful touch and actually it's one of the things that makes their breakfasts so good!

Gus' Red Hots has been here for as long as we can remember, and the quality of the food has never changed. It's a real nostalgic slice of the past, and if you haven't been there in a while (or never!) then it's time that you get yourself over to that classic location on Cumberland Head Road and get yourself some red hots. The "Michigans" are our favorite thing here, which of course is a red hot smothered in chili. They're so good that you'll want to order the platter that comes with two of them. We also really enjoy the perch here, and the hamburgers are a great bet if you're more of a burger guy (or gal!). This is true greasy spoon food at its very best, and the serve is equally great and old fashioned! Nice old fashioned charm and ambiance too. One of the best.

Zuke's Corner Store is the least "restaurant or bar" option on this page, instead being a charming convenience store that we love for their wonderful sandwiches! People are really crazy about the sandwiches here, to the point of writing many glowing reviews online in case you don't trust ours alone! There's nothing fancy to look at here, it's just your typical convenience store, but they've got those mouth watering sandwiches, delicious deli pickles that are some of the best we have ever had, and bags of potato chips that are better than what you'll find at most sub shops. It's just the perfect combo, and did we mention that the pickle and chips come free with your sandwich? Now that's what we're talkin' about. The service is very fast and friendly here too, so you'll be in and out in a flash. Very highly recommended!

Clare & Carl's Hot Dog Stand is another one of our favorite places to go for a great hot dog, and one of the things that we love so much about this one is that convenient location on Lake Shore Road, along with the cute kitschy exterior that makes you want to pull over and grab one of those hots asap! There's a newer location at the marina, but we say skip that one and stick with this original. It's truly retro here, with all the original decor including that horseshoe shaped counter, picnic tables, car service, and that retro neon sign that everybody loves so much. The Michigans are some of the best that we have ever tasted, and we recommend getting them with the onions buried and with plenty of mustard. We say buried because they've got their own code here... you can get it with, without, buried, or up. Truly authentic and just packed with flavor!

Arnie's Restaurant is a great little Italian restaurant that we have relied on for years for great service and wonderful food. We enjoy relaxing in the restaurant on the second floor with a really delicious dinner, and then heading back down to the bar for some drinks and great conversation. It's true that the food here is more Americanized than you'll find at most Italian restaurants, because it's more of a casual family style restaurant than an authentic upscale Italian eatery. But we really love it just the way it is. It's great for families or for casual nights out with friends. The food is always good, served piping hot, and in huge portions. Don't expect any fancy sauces here, it's just marinara or alfredo, period. All the basics, always good. Very highly recommended!
